Bill Wunderlich, President- 2 year terms
I have been the President of the Broward Folk Club since July 2021 and have played a key role in preserving the Club which was in the verge of extinction. I have also been Festival Director for the 2022 & 2023 South Florida Folk & Acoustic Music Festival at the Rodeo Grounds.
I have been active in the Broward Folk Club since 2008, having served as President and a Board Member from 2009 to 2018.
My business background as a CPA, CFO and businessman has provided me with the experience necessary to lead an organization.
Bruce Feldman, Vice President
I have been a Board member of Broward Folk for over twenty years and am currently Vice-President. Other positions that I have held include Parliamentarian, Corresponding Secretary, Recording Secretary, Open Mike/Concert Co-Ord, Children’s Stage Manager, Chair of Performer Selection Committee, and a Preliminary Judge of the Singer-Songwriter Competition for the South Florida Folk Festival.
Elyse Brunt: Secretary, Media Contact-2 year term
I have been an active member of the Broward Folk Club since 2000. I have been the Secretary the BFC since 2021 and previously served on the board many years ago. I have also taken on the role of webmaster and media specialist for the club. I am also a musician and have taught ukulele and guitar to students in elementary and middle school. I am very passionate about the promotion of local music events, especially working with young people to grow our community and expand our outreach with schools, colleges, and community organizations.
Michael Tabman, Treasurer
I am a retired FBI Special Agent in Charge and former police officer. I earned my CPA designation and served as an Internal Auditor in Charge for the FBI for two years. I am an author, speaker and entrepreneur. I recently joined the Board and have been acting as the new Treasurer.
I am a semi-retired nationally board-certified licensed massage therapist. I spent several decades in New York earning a living as an editor at the New York Times, a bicycle touring company owner/operator, a middle-school science teacher, and a stay-at-home dad. After moving to Florida in 2001, I attended the Acupuncture & Massage College in Miami, where I attained my “license to touch.” In my “spare time,” I enjoy painting, singing, bicycling, reading, spending time in nature, and listening to music – mostly classical and folk. I’m an active member (and current board member) of the Broward Folk Club, as well as a member of the City of Sunrise Leisure Services Advisory Board. Bottom line: I love music – It’s the key to my soul.
When I first moved to Florida in the late 90s I was looking for a folk club to belong to. I found this folk club and was on the board for four years and worked as the head of vendors for 3 years while we had the festival at Easterlin Park. During my career I mainly worked as a Psychotherapist and spent my last 16 years working for the Broward Sheriff’s Office. To round out the mental and physical I taught Massage Therapy at the American Institute. I play fiddle and am learning the Ukulele.
I attended my first South Florida Folk Festival in 1997. I have been a member since then. The BFC has provided me with many good times and lots of friends.
I served on the Board for a year around 2005, when there was a need, and from July 2021 until now, when the need arose again.
Professionally I am a Certified Public Accountant.
I have worked with many musicians in Nashville (including Rascal Flatts, Loretta Lynn, and others) and for 3 years as a staff songwriter for the “Songs of Love Foundation.” In 2011, I founded the The Song Team, which combined songwriting and professional development. In this capacity, I led workshops for many corporations to help build teamwork and collaboration. I am currently the executive director at Temple Beth El in Hollywood and have been actively working with many non-profits for several years. I am also a musician and member of Jewgrass Revival, a local bluegrass band. I began working with the Broward Folk Club after the last festival and am helping to coproduce a concert series. I look forward to working together to promote local music and expand our community engagement.
